What cross?

The boys caught this today in the OTS CNBG pond. Any idea on what breeds are in this imposter. I definetly see bass traits.
He was culled to the cur dog.

Thanks,
Chad

Green sunfish; and a nice one.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

It appears to be a pure strain green sunfish. Likely an invader from some source local or stocked with the CNBG.

Eric,

Yes, I put 1500 OTS CNBG in the NEW pond this past October. Nothing else has been added but feed. The pond is 30' from the front door, I guess it came from the stock batch or a bird left me a unwanted present. I will add my Bass in July.

RC51,
I agree, te mouth looks huge.

Thanks for the input guys.

Chad you should contact your seller (Todd if you got them from him)and let them know about the situation.if there is one there will likely be more . At that size and your status (new pond) it likely spawned .

You will never convince a 3 1/2 year old fishing buddy that Green sunfish aren't fun to catch.

Yes fun to catch. But in the referenced pond they will make HBG which are also fun to catch but do not reproduce enough to feed LMB.
