Recently moved in to a new home that shares a 2 acre pond with 6 other houses. The group has been paying a company to treat the pond yearly. Apparently paying $1400 a year for algae control, and $900 for aquatic weed control. (Curly pond weed).
I guess my question is, does this sound reasonable, and is this a good practice in terms of maintaining a good fishing pond?

Ztrain you probably use this pond as stormwater retention as well as recreation/aesthetics. You are going to have to deal with excessive nutrients(fertilizers/erosion/doggie doo) causing the need for service. 6 houses is a lot of houses sharing the pond and each have their own idea on what they want and most importantly want to spend. I have a few accounts that request microbes and enzymes in between treatments to cut down on herbicide/algaecide use. A two acre pond can produce some nice bass if you manage the pond right.
