I am kind of new at this but has anyone ever had algae growth that feels grainy. It has almost a powder feel to it. If so is there anything that can kill it without hurting the fish.

Vince, It sounds like you have a plant called water meal or wolfia. The best control method is to use a product with fluridone in it. There are some specifics like what is your acre feet of water, and do you have any flow coming in or out. Robert B fishmgr@hotmail.com
