We recently purchased some property that has a pond (a little more than an acre) that has some erosion issues on the emergency spillway. The pond has been there for 45 years and the dam survived the worst flooding in SC this past fall. There is no immediate concerns but would like to stop the erosion. We have had two estimates - one for 70k+ and the other 35k. The majority of the cost of the 35k is 25k in dirt to fill the hole. The area is probably 50 feet across and 15-20 feet deep. See pictures below. The hole is on the property lines of three different individuals. We would like to get it fixed but would like some other ideas if possible. We are thinking concrete maybe? We are also adding a siphon system in hopes to only use the emergency spillway in a true emergency. Installing the siphon to lower the pond lever so the original spillway can also be used when the water rises. Any thoughts or ideas?
