So after our big rain events 6 weeks ago I found myself with a fairly significant problem...a blocked culvert. Luckily I caught it soon enough to get the emergency spillway down a bit lower and control the water flow, but I'm still dealing with an issue.
The culvert is blocked with several larger rocks. I'd surrounded the culvert entrance with large limestone rocks. Apparently the suction was such that several of them were pulled into the culvert, and about 7 feet down they got stuck and almost completely blocked the water flow.
I've managed to manufacture a long handled hook and have had limited results - removed 2 of the 6+ rocks that are down there.
Any other ideas as to a removal method? It's only 18" so sliding down it is out - I'm too big.

Hey Dale,
Do you have access to the other end of the culvert and how long is it?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

He says it's 18 inch. I missed that too the first time I read the post.

I like the idea of your long distance hook, but I might be tempted to fabricate a slide hammer on the end opposite the hook. Reach in and hook a rock, then give it a few whacks with the hammer to free it up.
