MY pond is 3/8 of an acre in size it is 2.5 years old. I stocked it with Overton's CNBG 300, RES 100, FHM 10LB 2 years ago. Yesterday decided to use a cast net and see what was in the pond. We have been catching some 5 to 9 inch CBNG with a RES around 6 to 7 inches. On the first cast I had some minnows there were 6 plus inches long and 1.5 inches wide. Then I caught some GSF a couple around 4 to 5 inches then a couple 2 to 4 inches. With the heavy rains in East Texas this year I assoume that the unwanted fish came from a couple of ponds that are above mine. I have not put any preditor fish in was wanting to give the CNBG and FHM a good start. Plans are to go down to Overton's this winter and get some HSB for control. My goal was to raise only Overton CNBG now with the GSF will they cross with the CNBG and will it mean Disaster for my goal of Trophy CNBG

Bobby, the other day my neighbor told me he talked to the pond builder of both our ponds, and they decided to build an overflow in his 1 acre pond and the flow could be set up to go to my pond. So their thinking was, if an over flow of his pond would run into my 3.5 acre pond some 600 yds away would be good frown I then had to tell him of the Overton's CB lmb I had stocked verses the F1 feed trained lmb he has stocked. They meant well, but Dam !

I never thought about the ponds above me when I built mine. It has been dry here for sometime and not much heavy rains but this year my spillway was used several times. Now have those unwanted fish. I though about just getting me some D&B Catfish and just let them eat everything up the take them out and try again but it would just happen again. Just not sure what I need to do. Just deal with it or give up and start over.

You could still be ok. The good news is your desired fish got well established before trash fish. If the trash fish get a head start on the good fish that is when there are real problems. My old pond did that.

You may have to go LMB heavy to control the trash fish. Could still have your trophy CNBG pond. Maybe just not as many trophy because of biomass of other fish.

Not an expert. Use that info at own risk.

thanks for the information, that is my real question what to put in for control. The pond is in its deepest only 10ft. It is fill by drainage and the water level moves up and down all year long. My fear is that it will get to low and I have a large fish kill. I have aeration on but at feeding time the whole pond looks like it is full of fish.
