Next week I'll be getting some CC for my pond. I know that they are going to be smaller (not sure age or size when they are mature to spawn), but I was wondering what are some good containers that some of you have used in your ponds to help the CC spawn. I've heard of tires & old milk cans. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, how many should I have in the pond. My pond is currently 1/4 acre. In the fall (hopefully ) it'll go to around 1/2 acre. If some of you have created a container that you've had success with, I'd like to see it so I can get a better idea. Thank you for your time

My pond is also a 1/4 acre and I recently stocked 25 CC. (Small ones ~4"). I will probably put in 25 more soon, but no more than that. They become predators the larger they get.

As far as spawning, you might read over the post I put on here last week concerning the same thing.

As a general rule, 1/4 acre pond is a little on the small side to encourage spawning. (Although I've still left one spawning bucket in my pond.) Controlling the population through catching and restocking is a better option, according to the pros.

Thanks a bunch. Exactly what I was wondering. I'll probably just put in 1 55 gal barrel. But with me getting them as fingerlings, I guess I won't have to worry to much about there size for a little bit. I'm going to try and feed them as well.
