I have tried and tried to get adult YP to feed and until tonight had zero success. So last year I took a small BOW and stocked GSF with YP. My hope was the aggressive GSF would "teach" the YP to eat pellets. Got the call tonight that the YP are being seen taking pellets. "Racing the GSF" to the pellet. After a month or so, I will disperse these feed trained YP into a wild perch only pond.

I am ecstatic that the plan actually worked! I guess it's true, that a blind squirrel does finds a nut once and awhile. grin

Congrats amigo! My YP will take hydrated, sinking AM LMB pellet chunks, but are still super hesitant taking AM 600. I wish your YP could provide some assertiveness coaching...my YP are sissies.

TJ-I have been trying for years!!! Those YP seem to like the natural forage better. BG, HBG, GSF no problem... YP=zero

I can't wait to see what happens when we transfer the trained YP in with the untrained YP. I'm thinking about 1 full month of training before moving them (middle May/early June) The new pond is full of bug life, snails, and YP. It will be interesting to see if they go off the feed. I will keep the density high, like 200-300 for a .1 acre.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Critiques?
