I am wanting to take my dad out for his 60th birthday on a fishing trip this year. He has been one of the best dads a son could ever ask for, so I want to take him somewhere really nice and really good fishing! We live in Southern Indiana and looking to fish within an 8 hour driving distance. So my question to you all is where should I take him? I have had okay luck with Reel-Foot but just trying to think of other places.
Thanks! John

I would give the Giant Goose Ranch a try http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=403148I got a feeling those guys are going to give it their best shot at making it a trip to remember!

There are many many options 8 hours from southern Indiana.. Walleye, smallies and perch on Lake Erie or crappie at Kentucky Lake are a couple to look into also..
The biggest thing I can say is if you are making it his fishing trip, go for what he likes.. My dad went on a trip to Erie with me a couple of years ago and said it about killed him.. LOL.. Between the partying and rough water he said he would never go back..
He turns 69 this year and would rather fish my pond or the river on his lot with the grand kids as to go on big trips with the boys..

That's a really good point! Ha, He loves LMB fishing my pond and other small farm ponds around the area. We went to a couple big lakes as a kid and never did any good. I could tell that drove him nuts. I would say as long as we are catching fish he will probably be happy

If he likes fishing the smaller waters, then the Giant Goose thing could be a dream trip.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Holy cow that's awesome! I may have to start heading over there once a month. Or even just build a cabin there when I upset my wife to much
