Back about 6 mos ago I posted about an apparent leak I was having on a new construction 2.5 acres 25ft deep. Seepage leak. The product in question was called Water$ave from a company out of Australia

https://www.polymerinnovations.com.au/water-ave-seep.html

Although very expensive to purchase and ship to the states coupled with a lack of a reputation within the states I proceeded with apprehensions. Result - fixed leak and lake is holding water fantastically, knock on wood. Still have 8 ft to go so who knows but so far VERY happy. Easy and quick application and the people at the company are great to work with.

Thought I would update since I have been out of pocket for a while and waiting to see. I know how frustrating it is to have a leaky pond.

It is much better than anything mentioned on this board or anywhere else I have seen.

It turns out there is a US manufacturer of the stuff too, for less $$$. http://aquaben.com/ditch-pond-sealing/
I may give a go next year based on recent feedback. Still don't know long-term benefit, but hey, it is a lot less disruptive than re-working a dam!

I've used the aquaben product with great success!

Titan, Captwho,
Do you mind sharing more about how your product was applied?

Pond pumped down and then ground tilled up and product applied? Compacted into the soil, tilled under or just sprinkled on top?
If applied to full pond how did you apply evenly to middle?
Did vegetation exist and how did product seal around vegetation?

A couple of us have groundwater ponds that have large swings between high ground water table and low ground water table. It would be nice to seal it.

For me I have a recently redug pond, 2 yrs ago, mostly clay, some veins of sand in one area. I think most of my leak goes through the porous sides of the pond and once water laps up over the edges at 'high pool' and up on to the lawn it absorbs going laterally.

I have a fair amount of vegetation now and a little 'muck layer' building back in due to hardwood leaves falling into the pond. I have an aerator that could be removed but would think I could work around that?

Applying to the edges would be possible but I would want to avoid having to some how pump down the pond and till up all the bottom material and then have to dispose of the bottom organic debris.

Ideally i would wait till after spring rains when pond is at its max, then come late June or July when it is at its lowest point then apply somehow then (with boat?)

I could rent a trash pump and pump it down but due to not wanting to disturb the forage fish that I spent 2 years trying to build up (and a few smaller panfish stockers that are just starting) I wouldn't want to have to empty, dry out the bottom, till up the bottom, apply product, retill and refill.

Thanks for your advice!

My pond leaked down to the 3' mark after a dry summer I purchased 7--55lb bags of a cross-linked polymer. I scraped up all around the edges and about half of the pond bottom that was exposed. Then I applied a heavy coat of the polymer, mixed it in then tracked it with my mini excavator
Then I sprinkled a heavy coat into the remaining water
So far the pond has been rising........I won't know if it's holding until I reach full pool and we have dry weather
I also dumped 60 yards of pond silt and spred it around as much as I can

That was my last episode

Liquid squid have you tried using a polymer ?

My pond is about 3/4 acre
