I have been on here a couple of times, and right now having a pond is just a dream, but if you look at our property right now, wondering where everyone thinks would be a good area. The property is fairly flat.

If you look at the picture, our property is all of the cleared area in the center. It runs from the road to the creek (really a big drainage ditch) that you see on the left side of the picture, and from the forested are on one side to the forested area on the other. The cleared area in the top corner back by the creek slopes down towards that corner. other than that the land is flat. Most of the land is clay. There are a couple of spots that are always wet. one is up in pasture beside our driveway. Everywhere you see a line of trees is a ditch line...

The soil map on Opis says mainly Lenoir Loam, Bladen Fine Sandy Loam and Roanoake silt loam. We are in Eastern NC.

I know this isn't much to go on, and it is just a dream right now...

Do you have a topo pic, or link to google maps to see contours?

I just changed the original post to hopefully include a little more info and a link...They just took the timber off a couple of months ago, and of course now we have a mess. So we are trying to decide what we should have completely cleared and what we should just let grow.

Seek the advice of your local forestry office. Just letting it grow may be a bad move. They will come out and evaluate your property, free of charge.
