FWIW..I am with Pat but if there is nobody closer....I am not a pro but I do know FHM can tolerate low DO. If you are up to the drive to go get them, the FHM can probably make the trip back. I would ask Dunns to split the order into a few bags to keep the numbers per bag smaller.

For what it is worth, here is my experience with Dunn's

fish truck

If you read the first post in the thread be sure to read my last post which is the resolution to the problem. I want to represent my experience fairly.

In summary of that whole thread, my first experience was terrible, my second experience was fine and was satisfied.

Wherever you get fish from, just make sure you are getting the fish they say you are getting. Getting ten pounds of FHM that just happens to have two or three GSF mixed in and then your plans are to let the FHM reproduce for a year before stocking other fish could end up in a disaster. A pond full of fish you don't know why they are there or where they came from. A more common problem than should be.

The last fish I got from Dunns were healthy and I saw no off species. But be sure to verify before dumping into your pond.

How about giving Rainman (Rex) a PM or phone call to see if he can help you find someone closer?

These Fish farms aren't any closer than Dunns, but I would suggest driving to JM Malone's or Hopper-Stephens Hatcheries in Lonoke, Arkansas for the Fatheads....they will be clean stock. Personally, I prefer Saul Minnow farm for them. Saul only produces Golden Shiners, "Tuffie" Fatheads, and I think, goldfish. They are also not in a flood prone area, so no chances for accidental trash fish species tagging along for the ride...
