I used 50' of the sinking from the diffuser back towards the bank, then used 3/4" black water pipe. This allows me to pull the diffuser out of the pond or relocate it without disturbing the portion of the 3/4" black plastic pipe that is weighted down with concrete blocks.

"Next time" I would probably bite the bullet and go with all sinking within the pond. The 3/4" water pipe works fine above water.

Even after weighting the pipe down every ten feet or so, it still floats up off the bottom between weights a few inches. Looks like something waiting to snag a fish hook to me. But it did save considerable money in my 3 acre pond using a good portion of non-sinking line. It works, but sure is not as simple nor neat of installation. If you can afford it, go sinking for everything in the water. If not, try to use at least the last 25' or so attached to the diffuser sinking, so the diffuser can be raised without disturbing the weighting system (however you choose to do it) on the remaining pipe.

That is my experience with three double diffusers in a 3 acre pond and two single diffusers in my sediment and forage ponds.

Hi all,

Been a while. Gotten past the consideration stage, and have begun marshalling the gear to set up my aerator. Going with a Thomas 2660, and a two-diffuser Airstation. Uncle Sam was gentle this year so I went ahead with the purchases, and look forward to installing weekend after next.

In the meantime, I got a dock built. It's 12 x 10 held up with six blue barrels.

And Jake learned to swim as well. That's why the water looks so muddy, He does a pretty good job stirring up the bottom.

Really looking forward to spring and summer now.

Cheers

Would you mind sharing where you got the compressor/Airstation/etc?

Looking to finally aerate my .4AC pond and would love to know where you got it, how you like it, etc.

Thanks!

So here it is:

I started by hiring an electrician to get power down to the bank. He put me in a duplex GFCI outlet. I used his post in the ground as the base for my compressor enclosure here:

I lined the inside of the enclosure with an old floor mat to dampen it, I also strapped the input and the output of the Thomas 2660 for additional dampening. I owe it a couple vent holes, and maybe a fan:

All the parts, ready to go. That's a Vertex duel diffuser Air Station. I was short on the weighted hose, so I went to the big box for a couple stalks of pipe. The weighted airline is at the end of the pipe.

A couple pictures of my boil. The pictures don't do it justice though.

So, mission accomplished here.

Mark

PM = Private Message that can be sent to a fellow PBoss member by clicking on his or her name and choosing the appropriate item in the drop down box. When you have received a private message a little envelope flashes in the PBoss tool bar near "MyStuff" located at the top of each screen. Click on the envelope to read your private messages.
