The wife wanted a pond; we had a small pond already on our property but she wanted it a little larger. The pond is kind of L shaped with the long sides about 90 feet give or take and the narrower sides about 45 feet give or take. The old pond area is about 10 to 12 feet deep with the new area 8 to 10 feet deep.

The cost to have the contractor come enlarge the pond was $1,000. that was for digging and one load of washed sand. I am responsible for moving the "spoils" of the dig. We will need more sand but that will have to wait.

The wife also wants a water-fall stream built into the pond. She said she saw some videos on U-tube were it was done with without any lining under the rock/boulders just used concrete and foam to seal the area. I told her I didn't think that was a good idea.

Here is a few more pictures. I still have a lot of soil to move; took off the week and am only half done.

If it was my pond, I'd taper the banks so it's easy to walk to the water, or to mow to the waters edge.

In the first picture were the sand is is a walk-able taper. The old pond had the sides pretty straight up and down. I should have said something to the operator about the other side but I didn't. Not sure what it would cost for him to come back out; but for now I will see how it goes.

The steeper side I did want that way as the wife wants a waterfall on that side. I was concerned about the water level and wanted to make sure the waterfall was falling in the water.

Thanks for the welcome.
