Hello,
I bought a foreclosure in 2009 and am now getting to one last Pandora box........
I have what appears to be a man made pond right off the back of the house; within 10 yards! That pond has a channel that connects to a bigger pond. The bigger pond used to be a peat moss selling hole.
We are wanting to do a temporary dam to separate the two ponds. I am planning on doing the temp dam with sand bags as it is only aprox 1.5 ft deep and 10' across. I plan on pumping out the water from the pond directly behind the house into the bigger pond. The bigger pond has a overflow channel.
Thus my question for help/ we would like to put in a pool if possible but if not than I need to build a retaining wall and install a proper dam. & a means to control water depth of pond behind the house.
Thanks, Ric

Natural swimming pool?
There have been some posts in the past about them, pretty neat too!
Dam? Where? To replace the sandbags?
Ps. Welcome to pondboss

I got the dam in place! Started pumping the water out But.......... 2 feet away under a walk bridge I've noticed a spring bubbling water up :-(
I'm thinking I might try putting a 4" PVC tube over it and pounding it in and than adding a elbow to dump it on the other side of the dam........ Or move the fricken dam /-(

Went and got dirty/ I found a 2 inch plastic line flowing water from other side of dam! Prior owner had a make shift brick wall in water/ must of been part of his plan on depth control for pond behind house. I've got it rigged up so no more water flow !!!!

Welcome from another in SE Michigan. To follow up with the question, are you trying to create a swimming pond, or do you want to replace the pond with a swimming pool? I am not a pool expert, but I think that a swimming pool surrounded by springs would be problematic.
