Yuck, Jim Cantorie from the Weather Channel is set up just down the road of where I grew up, which is 40 miles to my north. Never a good sign when he shows up, he is sort of like Gandolf. Wherever he shows, crap weather is sure to follow.

Yeah Jim knows where the worst weather will be and TWC flies him there. I've heard he's been threatened on site! LOL

We had the proverbial "thundersnow" this morning several times and the lights flickered each time. Must have been pretty intense as that doesn't normally happen during regular thunderstorms. They say the thunder is muffled by the snow.

Anyway the power finally did cut out for a couple of hours and there were widespread power outages in the area.

My Tripp-Lite APS750 inverter came through like a champ and kept my home RAS working. The yellow perch would have been floating without it. I was a little concerned as I only have two deep cycle batteries on it for 7.5 hours back up.

Not only does it automatically convert DC to AC, it goes right back to AC mode and starts charging the batteries back up.

Glad I have netting over the tank. Whenever the lights flicker, go out, or come back on the fish freak.

Snow has backed off and will be out of the area in a couple of hours but drifting is intense. The driveway is hardly visible for what seems like 8th time or so. The snowblower is worth its weight in gold this winter!

It will be interesting to hear what Scott (Esshup) and Cody have to say.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

71 degrees here in central Illinois yesterday, 35 this morning. No snow here and the front seems to have passed.

We had total ice out of our 3 acre pond yesterday. From approx. 10 inches thick to ice out in two weeks. No visible floaters yesterday and some activity around the edges.

Spring Peepers very active yesterday.

Bing,

Looks like you might be getting at least some skim ice down there if the temps they are forecasting come to fruition. They are forecasting below zero not for tonight up here.

Cecil:

We had the same noise and white stuff that you did, power went out too. Internet was out the longest, about 7 hours. We ended up with just shy of 7" of snow, but now they are calling for 20-30 mph winds with a temp down around 0 tonight.

The rain started after 2 am and when the power going off/on/off/on this morning at 5:30 woke me up, there was about 3" of snow on the ground. Everything is packed with snow, tree branches drooping down to the ground, etc. The sun just came out a little while ago, but now the wind is howling. I think this snow is the heaviest of the year (per inch of thickness).

Mom & Dad, as of 1:00 p.m. EST were still running on generator power from about 5:00 a.m. EST. Last Spring they were questioning on whether installing the 20Kw whole house genset was a good idea. They aren't questioning that decision now!!!

We got 4 inches of snow here....all nice and HEAVY! Winds picked up and power has been going on and off.

Drive cleaned off good, roads are dry so maybe this was the last hurrah before spring starts!

Looks like we got a little over a foot. Hard to tell with all of the blowing! Not as much as they thought, but the wind made it bad. Winding down right now, sooner then expected.

Hardly a flake, and it was Sunny most of the day.

Dang squirrel grabbed a small plastic PB (peanut butter) jar without a lid from the dumpster.

I was sitting in my truck watching this, and it parked under a Jeep next to me.

It got all it could around the rim, but couldn't stick it's head in further! Oh yeah, he wanted it all, and was ripping the neck off the jar in due diligence fashion!

Wanted to get a pic of this, but when I opened my door, the critter with the PB jar, split!

It was funny watching the squirrel push into this on ice under the Jeep.

I'm saying, ya idiot! Move over another 6" or so and get some friction working in your favor.

Just barely a dusting east of Pittsburgh.

Sure it's 8 degrees, but at least no heavy snow.

Supposed to be 57 F tomorrow.
