I think the Texas Hunter is the best one going. I've got their deer feeders and a fish feeder and the only problem I've had is a couple of batteries. More expensive than most, but worth it. I got a sale flyer from them yesterday.

I also recommend the Texas Hunter feeders. Presently have three of them. They are very easy to work on. I had a couple that were underwater for a couple of weeks after a big flood. Had to replace the timer but the motor, spinning wheel and gates worked fine. You will be pleased.

I will jump in and say mine has worked nicely too(thank you Esshup). It went under a bit of water this past year, and came out unharmed. Perhaps I just lucked out.....

Lots of old threads on this if you want to take time to look them up. I would say the overall consensus would be you are going to have to pay either in cash or time: if you buy cheap you might need to put time into keeping them going. Or you can pay more for something that is pretty easy to care for.

My neighbor uses a deer feeder but pulled some kind of guard out of an old refrigerator. He wired it to the back. Some falls in the water close to shore. Oh yeah, he did put it about 8 ft out in the water.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

BTR, Texas Hunter has just come out with a $369 fish feeder (on sale for $299 right now). I know it doesn't have the air drive, but the price is certainly right. It has the corn feeder slinger with removable panels for directional throws.

I see one in my near future.

I think that one has to be positioned over the water or some of the food will land on the bank/dock.

Everyone is offering their suggestions based on experience. The general thoughts on the Texas Hunter fish feeder is that you will get your money's worth out of the feeder. Do a forum search for fish feeders and read the various threads to help form your own opinion.

I'll have to look when I get home Tums but it was the usual. I didn't look at it that close cause I'm not in the market right now. I'll check it when I get home and let you know.

Here you go. The fish feeders are cheaper than when I bought mine.

Yeah, that is a possible gotcha, but I think TH will sell tons of them. IMO, there's just no good $300 feeders out there, and I've tried most of them.

I can see them really bringing in the causal pond owner, and guys like me that want to try something sketchy without spending $800. It does have the powder coated paint and that great timer, so most of the best parts are there.

I think a piece of tin to channel the misdirected food will be all it takes to get value for the money with this feeder. At least I hope so.

This hanging feeder, how do they work? Does the food drop straight down? I'm looking for one to put on my dock, so if it did go straight down, it would at least still fall into the water.

It's a scatter feeder like feeding corn to deer. It throws food in a 360° arc.
