Wow, fertile water there. Tell us more about your pond, please. What are your goals, etc.

We made the pond for overall fishing pond. It is just over an acre in surface area, lots of honey hole trees and shrubs from boat cycle. Vertex twin aerators in 18 foot and 9 foot of water. Our new 792' well water has very high alkalinity, 8 ph and some salt. We added Camelot bass from overton's, 1000 copper nose, 300 red ear, tilapia last year ,and 20 shy channel cats three are albino and one super blue cat fingerling. Also, 15 lbs golden shiners and 40 lbs of minnows. 100 2" goldfish for fun. My son caught a a 9 inch goldfish last September.

You have a good stock in your pond. I think your son enjoys fishing and watching aquatic activities.

But i have a question about your pond. Have you dyed it green or algal bloom is there?
Because it seems like green pea soup color water.

When was the pic and how old is the pond ? I don't think that is just a plankton bloom. Yes part is but there is IMO something else occurring. May be mineral due to aeration.

Thanks guys for the response and questions. Pond was finished April last year and filled with new water well. Had the bright idea, after reading on how to start a algae bloom, added cubed alfalfa. That picture was taken August last year. The pond only has about 10 visibility right now because seems what seems like another bloom. Water never really went to any other color but green even over he winter. The green now is a more pleasing green, like a healthy color not the pea soup green.

The pond was only the color in the picture for about a two months then turned a nice lake green color.

Fish are healthy but it is disturbing that it is still so green. Several people thought it was from the high alkalinity well water. Have not added any more well water since August last year.

Pond is almost a year old, in a few weeks. Best investment ever for the family.

Zach

Sorry no dyes added. We do aerate using vertex twins. We tried control longs blooms with algae killer but they didn't work because ph is above 8 I was told by Boat cycle and high alkalinity.
