Anyone have experience with YP from Schultz's Fish Hatchery? They boast 7" growth in 6 months because of good genetics. Also they suggest growth to something like 17".
It is quite interesting to me, but wanted to check with folks on here to see if there is any truth to this or any downsides. Also before I make a trek to pick some up.

Schultz reportedly grows and sells good fish, plus he also often has pellet trained walleye which I would like to hear a PBoss member report on about how well they stay pellet trained after stocking into a pond. There is no doubt in my mind that he has good quality YP, however several of us members would like to see a picture of one of his 17" YP. It is true with good quality YP some individuals of a year class can grow to 7" and even some 8" in the first six months. However, the whole truth is not all the fish in that age or spawn group are or were 7"-8" long. Realistically those 6 month old 7"-8" YP are around 5%-10% of the population and they are sometimes called "shooters" or cannibals depending on what they were eating to get to that size. The remaining 90%-95% of the 'other' perch of the same age are 2.5" to 6.9" long. I often deal with, buy, and grow shooter perch thus I am quite familiar with growth of YP in the first year. The shooter perch can easily with ample food add another 2"-4" of length in the second year of life.

Say hello to Kevin when you see him. Tell him Cecil says hello.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
