Just got back from Todd's place yesterday with 500 CNB 100 RES and 10 lb of fhm. It was cold and raining when I got there. My question and one I should have ask but did not think about it until today. My pond was built in May of this year and it is about 3/8 acre. My goal is to have large CNB. Question is when do I start feeding them and what should I use. Plan on putting in 50 HSB this spring or should I wait until fall of 2014.

Hey Bobby sorry I was away from the farm, as I had truck trouble on the road and had to have it towed to the shop.
Anyway, I recommend you get a bag of small high protein pellets and offer your bluegill some food by hand on warm days through the winter. Then in the spring you can kick up the program to daily with an automatic feeder or by hand.
Stocking 4-6" or 6-8" HSB in the spring sounds good, to put pressure on the CNBG to grow big and fast.
How did the fish look? I thought those were some very nice OTS CNBG.
It's ALL about the fish!

See the thread for many more OTS CNBG pics like that one and even bigger. That one was about 9-10 mths old at the time.

I have read as much here as possible to try to make my pond the best I could and after reading much on the CNB I think I made the right choice and from all of the advice on this site I can be confident that I will be able to grow some like those.

Yes - good genetics , water quality and food along with harvest mgt. are the keys.
