Has anyone ever heard of Kiln Dust being added to a lake to increase the PH. I was asked about this the other day and I have no idea if it works or if it is even safe. I need an honest education on it, and I do not want to just Google research
Thanks
Mark

I have used kiln dust on the farm to bring up PH of the land. It is cheap and flows allot like liquid even though it is dust. Keep it out of your eyes and best to keep it off your skin. The PH of the product is 11 so it really don't take much to swing your PH fast. A few bags will do wonders.
If you manage it with equipment treat it like water. It got into the front spindals of our loader tractor and it seized them solid. I had to take them apart with a hammer and grease the crap out of them. If I had left them they would have rusted solid and would have had to boil them.
You want an amazing vegetable garden put 50#s of kiln dust and 50# of soya bean meal on a 20X20 vegetable garden in the fall and till it in.
Cheers Don.
