what would be the best way to get rid of it. Yes, it appears to be southern naiad / bushy pondweed; but viable management options depend entirely upon factors that are unique to every pond. There is no generic "best way" to do the job. It usually requires a game of 20-questions to narrow down the option-field to one or two that are suitable to a specific pond. Details about your pond (size, depth, water-source(s), uses, managment objectives) would help.

What is the history or odds of your pond overflowing/discharging water between April and July due to rainfall events? Never? Rarely? Likely? Assuming your pond can or does overdlow, is a fish confinement-barrier feasible for your pond's overflow structure?

I just don't want to see this pond weed take over the pond I think it might be good to have some in the pond for cover for the smaller bg
