Got a picture of this guy the other day when I was walking out to feed...Assumed my friend the snapping turtle got him...Went by a little later and he was no where to be seen.. Then on my walk around the pond today on lunch saw two that had this light spot on their backs and were in very shallow water... Sorry about the pic quality, had to take a pic of a pic...

The couple I saw today were in the shallows but swam out of reach when I approached them...Was trying to catch them to get them out of the pond..Went in and grabbed good camera and put on my 250mm lens to get the pics...

If you only have a few like this and the rest of the fish are healthy i wouldn't worry about it.
Could be post spawning stress.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Most appear very healthy...Feeding at my pond has turned into a whole new game since adding the pellet trained LMB...I have seen fish get flipped completely out of the water, and I mean over a foot...
Which just made me think as I was typing this, Hmmmmmm?...

I've seen some of what I would call 'almost dead' BG on my pond here recently...Cecil's suggestion is what I was thinking - stress post spawn.
I guess regardless of the species raising kids is a lot of work!

Should I leave them in for turtle food or net them and feed the land critters?..

Turtles will have them gone in a day.. I had a GBH ate and I mean nothing but feathers in just a day and a half.. Turtles are good for something..
I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease.. BG. CSBG. LMB. HSB. RES.

Well, that one was dead by the time I got home... My son said he saw it move, but is didn't.. Was a lot smaller than the picture made it look... Maybe a 4" fish?
