What kind of Minnows
Any ideas if these are fat heads or Shiner minnows? Northern pond, and this is the 1st school of minnows I have seen that I can remember. Thanks in advance.

They look more like fatheads to me, but it's not easy to tell with that picture.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Get one, lay it flat on a piece of contrasting material (paper plate, etc) and take a close up picture.

The glare on the water is difficult to see through. You need a polarizing lens cover for your camera...
My guess is mosquitofish/gambusia but with those pics, it is just a shot in the dark.

WAG - shiners as they tend to school more than FH. Can't see so nothing but a wild guess.

So bobad you were right....after a few days after trying to catch a few...I got about 5 and here is the best picture.
LMB, wow,,,lots of them....We got 16inch LMB so they are spawning successfully....WOW 1st time I have seen them spawn since start to add them in 2010. Exciting, now I get to deal with overpopulation...
