Any ideas please let me know. My Mother who lives on our private 4 acre pond loves to feed the cat’s but it seems like they live at one end of the lake and it is almost impossible to go fishing and catch cat fish anywhere around the lake other than where she feeds them. I really don’t know what to do she lives to feed these fish, she gets a big kick out of watching the big ones come in. It looks like a bunch of Piranhas going at raw meat. I don’t think she is over feeding I just think these fish have been getting feed so well ever since they were 8” long they see no need in going anywhere else to look for food. I just caught on yesterday it was 20” long and almost three lbs. I just put them in the lake 15 months ago. HOW CAN I GET THESE FISH MOVING AROUND THE LAKE.

You didn't say how many were originally stocked. That will make a difference. Plus, this time of year, it only takes six or eight hours for the feed to be digested. There will be a few fish stay near the food source. But, others move away, foraging on their own. If original numbers stocked were low, there is enough natural food to keep them from being hungry. If you stocked fewer than 100 per acre, you may want to add more fish. That will make them more catchable due to added competition over time.
Teach a man to grow fish... He can teach to catch fish...

Why not fish where the fish are? Or does mom discourage that?

Vincent, I have the same issue with my mom. Our pond is only 1/2 acre with 150 channels 100 copps and 50 bass. Try what I did get you another feeder and put on the opposite side of the lake. Or try making it to the pond early in the morning and dumping some feed in different spots. Do that for about a week, you should be able to fish your way and if you have enough fish stocked your mom can have it her way, then everyone can have a coke and a smile. It's what I did. Woman i tell ya lol.. My mom thinks of our catfish as her friends, she'll talk to em, and feeds them like crazy. I stocked them 5 years ago and they're are some that come to feed maybe 20 that are over 20 pounds, let her keep on doing it, they'll get big!!!
