In early April I put 15 lbs. of fatheads in our new, soon to be 5 acre lake. They seemed to be doing fine. About 6 weeks later I stocked the lake with the usual channel cat blue guill and bass. I did not over stock. At the same time I put 15 more lbs. of fatheads in. At the time they were a good size about an inch. Now all I can find are a bunch of baby minnows. I am not complaining I was very glad to see all these little minnows swimming around but I have to wonder what happened to all the larger ones.

The larger ones are either fish food or busy spawning. Maybe some of both.

I have found the only time I see my larger ones is when I feed the catfish, they will come up to eat and then dissapear. Looks like some are about 2.5 to 3 inches long. My bass are now ambushing the ones along the bank it's fun to walk around the pond and watch the minnows scatter into deeper water and then wham!

Also fatheads don't live long and mortalities after spawning are common. So you may have lost some of the adults through natural mortiality and the catfish removed them for you.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
