I just spent 45 minutes searching online for nice plastic or fiberglass round goose nests and couldnt find any commercially available...Does anyone know of a good goose nest that can be purchased online?

Or have pics of really nice looking ones?

Thanks!!! Hopefully someone has some info...

The curious in me wants to know why. Are you attaching these to ejector seats or something? ;-)

Nate,

I always figured you were pretty smart and stable -- just a little lively due to your youth.

But, high quality goose nests?

I hope it is so you can addle the eggs.

seeing as everything online is information on how to discourage or keep away geese it seems fitting the first two responses were just merely statistics of popular culture....

We used to have a local goose club that made and sold some really awesome goose nesting tubs that really looked nice...anyhow they have since gone by the wayside and I have a client looking for a bunch of goose nests for his newly acquired goose hunting property....

Send him out this way.

We've got millions of geese that have decided they like the good life around here, and they no longer migrate. Where I worked in the Washington DC suburbs of Northern Virginia before retiring, our landlord had a crew with snow shovels who cleaned goose poop from our sidewalks and parking lots twice a day during most of the year. Many municipal areas around in this part of the country have retention/sediment ponds, which the geese love.

During hatchling season, the adult geese become quite aggressive if anyone gets near them or the goslings. It was frequently a less than pleasant experience to walk between buildings or to/from our cars.

The season in that area runs from mid-November through the end of February at five birds per day.

I honestly didn't know it was possible to buy an artificial goose nest. Sorry Nate.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Here's an A-Frame design, looks pretty simple and apparently is effective.

And so it begins Again Fredrerick.....

BGK, in 6 months when you type goose nest or goose nesting tub or goose nesting box into google you will find on the first page of results several options to purchase from HB online...there used to be a local goose club who made nice green ones and sold them for donations, I'm tracking down that mold....the client of mine who wants them is the CEO of Caterpillar so I need 30 of them by the end of February so I will have something very nice installed by then so might as well make a few extra and offer em for sale from there...

As I look out my office window I count 14 Canadian geese lounging around on a grassy area. Here it is middle of winter and 24 degrees and they have no desire to fly south judging by their continued presence. Indianapolis has quite the resident population due to all the retention ponds.
As someone mentioned previously springtime is always interesting as we have frequent attacks on people trying to make their way into the buildings. One of them got the vice pres last spring and reportedly left quite the welt on her rear end.

Thick as vermin I tell ya...and nastier too.

I agree that they have their place and as a whole belong here as much as any of us. smile

Unfortunate that we have modified the environment to the point of disrupting their natural tendencies.

Evolution and survival of the fittest I guess.

Nate,
I'm assuming your asking about breding platforms for dark geese. We have built a few but not real pretty. I asked around a little but no one has gotten back to me with anything except homemade plans.
Which design do you like the best, floating or fixed height?
