Yo PBF,

Been a spell, missed yooz guys. Hope everyone had a great Holiday week. Read Nate's post RE starting the new fishing thread, didn't see one started yet, so I thought I'd kick things off with a plump 12.5" YP from my pond Tuesday, 1-2-2013. Here we go, 2013!

Lets see another pic of it this time in hot oil! Good going bro.

Not enough ice here to even think of going out on the pond.

That's a killer YP...always wanted to catch some of those through the ice.

Off topic question: Is the 2013 pic thread diverging? There appears to be two 2013 threads materializing, which one are we supposed to post photos in? Assuming of course, that the ice will hold my weight, and I still remember how to catch fish?

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

TJ, that is a dark and pretty perch! Congrats. Also, just the small amount of the pond property I can see in that picture shows that you likely have some darn nice habitat (both pond and upland).

Before I posted last night I searched active topics thoroughly for "Fishing 2013" topic but didn't find one, so I started this. I'm still looking - and I'm coming up empty. Sorry to start up something that existed elsewhere guys. Guess I'm rusty. smile

Here's my favorite "George" fishing pic. Every time I see it on his den wall I stop and look at it.

Now back to 2013 catches.

Which one is George? The smoker? Looks relaxing...fly casting with a pipe full!

George

Why not continue the tradition? I'd be happy to move my photo anywhere, like I said, I never saw a fishing 2013 thread started. Anyhow, please keep it up, don't let me unintentionally interfere.

Are we all on the right thread now?

It looked right from the main page.

Anyways, that is one YELLOW perch. I'm not sure I've ever pulled one out of my pond that was that crazy yellow. Mostly white, green, and orange (that's going from memory, so you know there's some distortion).

"She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Great YP - my experience is they often get that or near that color under ice cover and in clear water. I think the darkened underwater conditions bring out the color.

My water clarity went from 30" in September/October to 80-90" now. At first ice I could see my rock piles in 8'+ depth - really cool to see. I just wish I could figure out the pattern on my main pond...fish move a ton under the ice, probably due to lack of structure. One can sit and wait, or move every 20-30 min to find fish. Frustrating for such a small BOW, especially as I know those 12" YP caught in 2010 should be well over 14"+ now.

Very nice YP and BG!

As requested from catmando in another thread, here's my first bass of 2013 from New Year's day. Struck a blue/chrome Bandit deep diver in about 8ft of water.
