Baby bass- thanks for all the great post
Here's a pic of success! This is one my 5 month old bass that I stocked in my new pond this year. I stocked them in the first week of June, and they were all 1.5 -2 in. Long ( got them from American Sport Fish). They look super healthly and I can't believe the growth rate. I had plenty of baitfish and have been feeding Purina Aquamax- great combo! Thanks to all of you for your great posts and advice on this forum. This would not have been the outcome had it not been for his forum- thanks Bob! I'll keep you guys posted periodically on the the continued growth. I'll also throw in a pic of nice bluegill too- they were 2-3 inches when I stocked them in April- they are looking pretty fat! Take Care- Kegger

Very nice fish and work ! That LMB looks like it just ate a big meal.
Will be interesting to see how Fla genes ( CNBG and LMB) do up there.

This is what ample forage and pellets can do for first year fish growth. Did you measure the LMB? Bass looks to be 11" and BG at about 8". The next step will to keep them growing well especially the bass. In a situation like yours bass often top out or "hit the wall" at 16"-17" because they run out of proper food. This could happen at the end of 2013 when your bass should be 15"-17". 2014 will be the year to prepare for as far as maintaining bass growth. Are the bass pellet trained?

Sorry it took me a while to reply, but to answer your question- yes my bass are pellet trained. I got them from American Sport Fish. What additional forage fish do you recommend adding next year to keep the growth rate going? I plan on stocking additional gold shinners and fatheads in the spring. Would you add shad? My pond is only an acre(a little less).

I would not add shad but would add GShiners.

The reason for not adding shad is that the Threadfins will die off come Fall, and the LMB aren't large enough for you to stock Gizzard Shad. I agree with stocking Golden Shiners. I wouldn't stock any more Fatheads.
