I not really sure if there is a leak. The last rain we had here was XMAS EVE 2002 not even a 1/2" since then. The level has dropped by about 6" over an acre pond and we've had a daily wind of about 10-15 MPH which I think could suck some of the water out.And I pump from a well about 30 hours a week which is about 20,000 gals.

Greetings one of the few...I have a son stationed at Cherry Point. He is a firefighter, sixth year in the Marines.
Here's some numbers that will help figure out if you have a leak.
One acre, one inch deep, is 27,000 gallons of water.
In winter, with low humidity, expect to lose an inch every other day.
If the pond is new...dry soils absorb water like a sponge, then become saturated.
Here's what I would do. Place a measuring stick in the mud, near the shore. Every two days, write down the water level. Quantify your losses, compare to humidity levels.
You will figure out if you have a leak.
Oh yeah, another thing...go behind the dam and see if you have standing water or a muddy area.
