Me and my friends were exploring my backyard Saturday and stumbled upon a pond in the middle of the woods. It's not very big, maybe 1/4 of an acre. We could see numerous frogs and salamanders around the pond, but no fish. However, it's very shallow and this is our problem. Its maybe 2 feet at its deepest point, and me and my friends want to dig the pond deeper in points then make canals to connect it to the main pond. The pond is all natural by the way.
Is our ideas executable?

Why not just fill it with FHM every spring and seine it in the fall?

You may want to consider leaving this woodland wetland and enjoy having a great place for the wildlife. These types of habitats are quite valuable to some species and add some diversity to your place.

I agree with RAH on this.
I have a similar setup on my property, it is an old tank battery containment ring that is about 1/8th an acre and is 1-2' deep with high tree cover on the levee that completely surrounds it. Wood ducks, which IMO are one of the most beautiful birds, love it.

We had a little pond like this at my family farm down in Southern IL - it was a GREAT draw for wildlife - frogs/turtles/snakes/ducks/deer/etc....we left it just as it was for 25 plus years

Yeah, I would also agree, leave it alone. If you want another BOW to fish in, dig a whole new hole. It may be easier and less expensive anyhow.
