Caught this bass this evening. It was 11 1/2 inches and weighed 452 grams. Tagged this one and released it. I stocked 50 bass in Oct.2010, and another 50 in April 2011.

When stocked into a pond full of forage, bass can really chunk out.

Question - has the pond been electrofished? Back injured/broken or as Bill notes slightly deformed ?

If only the coach had put him in in the fourth quarter. Then wouldn't be here eating all our steak and ruining our lives.

I think the way it is shaped may produce more upward thrust, like on a dime! laugh

I don't see anything wrong with hit. It's just chunky with a small head!

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

The pond was surveyed in April by Enviromental Aquatic(Greg Grimes). I have tagged about 32 bass in the pond since then but had never caught this one. He does seem a little hunchback. Just thought this one was unique. Most of the bass that I have caught are 11 1/2 to 13 1/2 inches. His weight is what got me.

Siblings are showing signs of weight gain, I assume from the tilapia forage, but not like this one. I started culling everything under 10 inches and anything that is under 80% body weight. I did bucket stock some gizzard shad (by mistaken ID)that have spawned this past spring.

Possibly this LMB's internal metric converter isn't working properly causing the distortion (length((inches)) to the weight((grams)) ratio).

CB1 you should look at the picture in the link of the first post. It is a clearer picture. Notice the hump or irregularities in the lateral line. The LL is not normally shaped and probably a function of physical deformity.

I suppose but I'm so used to deformed heavy fish they look normal to me. grin
