Hope I'm posting in the correct place-But here it goes! Our Home owners ass recently had a new siphon system put in our 66acre lake-system consists of 3 12" pipes- when the first went operational the caused a considerable amount of erosion on the back side-Now to save money the pres wants to add an angle to the 22deg upturn on the end of the discharge side of each pipe to rederect the water further out and backfill will riprap. I have never seen or heard of this being done, will this additional angle cause further problems? HELP, need info before he goes along with this idea!!Try to get some pics up tomorrow if this tropical storm will let up!

I think it'll help with the erosion problem. Before placing the riprap, see if you can get heavy geotextile fabric on the ground and nailed to the ground to help keep it in place. If not, the soil might wash out from under the rocks, and the rocks will slowly sink into the ground.
To get the water further out from the backside of the dam, once the 22° fittings are in place, maybe more pipe could be added to get the water even further away?
