We just had a storm roll through and my feeder ended up in the drink. I was able to fish it out within 1/2 hour and cleaned it out, pulled the battery and disconnected the solar panel. I'm going to let it dry out and see if it will work.

Anyone ever had this happen and know what to expect?

I went to moultries site and I can't find any parts for this feeder...purchased in 2010.

Did you just dry it out then hook up the battery? My digital panel was blank.

I have purchased a couple Moultrie feeders for hunting and one for a pond. I will choose other brands in the future. parts are not readily available from the manufacturer and unless you pay for their super expensive model they carry little/no warranty. I called their customer service department earlier this year and they were not at all helpful - no parts or components can be purchased to fix what doesn't work and they had lousy customer support. I tend to give feedback when a company fails to provide good service. I shared my feelings with Moultrie management and they really didnt care - just tried to upsell me to the most expensive guaranteed model. Hope others have better success than I had!

I will have to agree I called them for a spinner plate and they said they do not sell them. I said why not, they said just do not have them for your model.

My father receives 2 spinner plates in the mail after filing a warranty claim.

I will say I was happy he got them so I could fix my feeder, but since they told me they did not have or sell them I purchased a new one a day before he received the parts.

This did not make me happy, but I do have a brand new feeder if I ever need it. Wish I had another pond to put it on that I did not have to worry about it being stolen.

This is my third or fourth season with a Moutrie Feedcaster, and I'm about to order another one. Either in the first or second season, we too had a major storm. The next day, I found my Feedcaster and bucket floating on the other side of the pond. The timer was ruint, but everything else seemed to be OK.

I went to a Big Box store and bought a Wildgame Digital Timer. I think I paid $29.95 for mine. All has been well ever since.

The Wildgame timer is slightly larger than the Moutrie timer, so I had to make a few adjustments. But, I actually like it much better. I've since added a solar panel to the thing also. It has served me and my fish very well.

I cleaned out the feeder after it fell in and left the lid open, removed the battery and disconnected the solar panel and let it dry a few days. I recharged the battery after it dried off.

Last night I reinstalled the battery and connected the solar panel, set the timer and it took right off. No problem other than middle arm of the solar mount was broke so I just connected the panel directly to the base. All is well. Going to mount it back on my dock so this can't happen again...actually going to build a bracket to mount to the side of my dock so I can still use my dock for fishing since it's a little narrow.

It must be fairly tough to get blown off of blocks, drifting 50', and being completely submerged. Outside of the abuse I've given it, it's held up pretty well.

Here is my feeder:

When I bought it, this was the deal thanks to the forum http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=214397&page=3
Item Number Description Price Discount Quantity Item Total
MFHP12354 30 Gallon FeedCaster Fish Feeder $419.99 $319.99 1 $100.00
MFHP12370 Game Spy I40 Digital Trail Camera - Refurb $119.99 $0.00 1 $119.99
Sub Total $539.98
Discount Total $319.99
Total $219.99
Sales Tax $15.40
Shipping $52.49
Grand Total $287.88

Then I resold the new/refurb game camera for $100. So for $187 including tax and shipping...I think it's been a good value.

I am glad that worked out, like I said my fathers was dead after getting wet, but it was the bucket feeder and those parts are all together. Now if he does still have it, maybe we could try to hard wire the battery in just to see if the motor will turn on, if so maybe we can get it to work again by rigging up a new timer.
