Look for a survey in the November-December issue of Pond Boss, but here's a short, targeted shopping version for a start.
Tell me, where do you shop for:
Fishing gear; Fish food; Products for your land;
Would you prefer to shop at:
Local Farm Store? Big Box store? BassPro? Cabela's? Tractor Supply? Name your store--
Lastly, what products do you buy in a store?
Second, what do you buy online?
What percentage of your shopping is done online?

Fishing gear (except fly rod stuff) - TackleWarehouse.com Fish food - Pott's Feed Store in Emory TX Farm stuff including most chemicals - TSC and Northern Tool Hard to find Chemicals - DoMyOwnPestControl.com All game fish and forage - Overton's and Tyler Fish Farm
I really try to buy as much local as I can. It's tough for a lot of the smaller mom and pop places to fight the box stores, so I try to keep every dollar I can in the local community. Sometimes though, that's just hard to do.
My percentages change a lot, but right now I'd say 70% walk in, and 30% on line.
Good survey Bob.

Fishing gear; Dick's Sporting Goods Fish food; Herman Bros and local feed store Products for your land; TSC/Farm and Fleet Fish; Herman Bros
Pond wise I try to first check with Nate @ Herman Bros and support him as much as I can. I value his knowledge and expertise and appreciate his support.
Online Purchases: I shop online 70%, versus 30% locally. For example: we feed freeze dried meal worms to our Bluebirds. We go through a 3.5 ounce packet @ 7.95 every week. I now buy in the bulk, online for the equivalent of $2.36 a week. Huge savings over the course of a summer. Free shipping plays an important role in my decision making as well.

Fishing gear: Depends on what I'm looking for. Fish Food: Feed store in Napoleon, Ohio or a local elevator Gardening and Yard products: Home Depot, Menards, Wally World, and sometimes TSC though they don't have a very good selection. Fish: Tried a couple area hatcheries but I'm not satisfied with either thus far.
Online, I shop on Ebay now and then but usually don't buy much online. Dan

Fishing gear:Wal-Mart Products for land: Rural King I try to buy almost everything online because of the prices. I like to use Amazon when I can because it's usually one-stop shopping and they have reviews for almost every product they sell. I would say 75% of my shopping is done online. We are currently building a new home and I purchased door knobs/locks all electrical fixtures, garage heater all online.

Well, I'm with FireIsHot. I try to buy as much from the local stores as I can. Since I live about 30mins from the nearest big stores it's a shorter drive to the local bait and tackle shop to pick up odds and ends fishing gear. On occasion I will hit wal-mart or Dicks for rods and reels etc.
I buy all my fish food from a small local store. They always have it in stock and I enjoy walking in and shootin the breeze with them.
As for any fish we stock we have used Jones fish for GS and a small local hatchery for BG.
Land products I generally hit up TSC for spray and gardening tools but sometimes lowes.
So, I would say 90% of my business goes to the small local businesses, the rest to bigger stores. I would also say 90% of my purchasing is done in person with 10% online.

Fishing gear; Online, from a variety of retailers. Fish food; Local feed store. Products for your land; Rural King, local farm store.
Would you prefer to shop at:
Local Farm Store? Big Box store? BassPro? Cabela's? Tractor Supply? Name your store-- I would prefer a Basspro, or Cabela's. Unfortunately, the closest one of either is over 100 miles away. I have a very hard time finding the gear and products that I want, at least in a local, brick and mortar location.
Lastly, what products do you buy in a store? Not very much these days.
Second, what do you buy online? Nearly all of my fishing gear, some pond chemicals.
What percentage of your shopping is done online? 60-70%

Fishing gear: Academy, Cabelas Fish food: Various Feed stores. AMAX is tough to find Products for land: TSC, Larger Feed stores, Hardware
Prefer to shop at Cabelas, Tractor Supply, Academy, Local Farm stores I have no real loyalty to any of them.
I buy in the store: fish food, building materials, fishing and hunting gear, farm products, chemicals
I buy almost nothing online
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Fishing gear; (Cabelas) Fish food; (don't feed) Products for your land; (Local Hardware store, Local Feed Mill, TSC, Welters Seed Company, Various online distributors (no real loyalties)
I prefer to shop at:
1) Tractor Supply Company 2) Cabela's 3) Local Farm/ Hardware Stores
Products that I buy in a store? (Anything I can't find online especially if I can't wait for shipping)
Second, what do you buy online? (all else) What percentage of your shopping is done online? (80%-90%)

Fishing gear: Haven't shopped for this in years - the old stuff is still in good condition.
Products for your land: Depends on the product. If soil/soil product: whoever is local and has the best price at the time. Nursery products are through the top 30 companies over at Dave's Garden except for Oak trees (Oikos only) Greenhouse supplies through Greenhouse Megastore. Fencing: Premier One
We prefer to shop at the local family-run farm store for non-internet purchases listed above.
Lastly, what products do you buy in a store? Just the groceries (though we often order online) and the occasional odd piece of hardware (at Franklin's - the local "we have one of everything somewhere here if it was manufactured in the last 50 years" family-run hardware store)
Second, what do you buy online? Just about everything else - better selection with cost comparison.
What percentage of your shopping is done online? 95%+

Tell me, where do you shop for:
Fishing gear; Cabelas, Bass Pro, Wal-Mart, e-bay
Fish food; Local Mom & Pop Feed Store. Bar MM Feed for AM pellets.
Products for your land; Farm Fertilizer, Hamlet - Fertilizer and Pesticides/Herbicides. TSC, Rural King, Lowes, Menards, the local hardware store.
Would you prefer to shop at:
Local Farm Store? Big Box store? BassPro? Cabela's? Tractor Supply? Name your store-- All of the above. Prefer to shop local mom & pop stores if price is comparable. Cabelas has more of a hunting section than BP.
Lastly, what products do you buy in a store? Groceries, shoes, gunpowder, primers, shot, wads, some auto parts. Anything where shipping bumps the price up over local store prices.
Second, what do you buy online? I go in spurts, but just about everything except most food items (bought protein gel, protein bars and freeze dried meals on-line from REI)
What percentage of your shopping is done online? It varies, but roughly 50%

Fishing gear; Tackle Warehouse.com, Gander Mountain, Dicks, Bass Pro in that order Fish food; Local Purina feed store Products for your land; Heritage Coop (grainery)
Would you prefer to shop at:
Local Farm Store? Yes, Heritage Coop or the Purina feed store. TSC is convenient but prices are 35% higher than the other two and it's starting to look like a flee market.
Big Box store? I wouldn't want to have to load feed onto a cart push it a 1/4 mile then load it into my vehicle then unload it and haul it to the feeder. I prefer to pull up and have it loaded. BassPro? Too far, visit once a year. Cabela's? Way too far, visit every three years or so, BPS seems to have better selection of fishing gear and I don't hunt much anymore. Tractor Supply? Prices 40% above other sources on pond products but would if they were close in price as it's convenient...it would help if they carried Aquamax products too. Name your store--Meijer, Petsmart, TSC last choice...Local TSC is starting to look like a flee market.
Lastly, what products do you buy in a store?
Second, what do you buy online? Fishing tackle, tires, car products
What percentage of your shopping is done online? As far as fishing/land I'd say 10% online, 80% local, 10% chain retail.

I do not have much experience buying feed as I just started down the feeder route but I bought mine at a local store known as Tri County Feeds, their price was great but they only had AM600 and I wanted AM400, the AM600 seems to be working though. For tackle there is only one place to shop: www.tacklewarehouse.com Free ground shipping on any order over $50 and $5 2-day shipping. Spectacular selection and the best customer service I have ever experienced. They ship the same day you place your order (unlike bass pro who waits 10 days to send it out) and if there are any problems just call them and they will make it right. I rarely have the self control to NOT stop into a tackle store if I drive by one and I have been known to buy rods/reels/lures etc on a whim inside a brick and mortar tackle shop, but if I have an outing coming up and know exactly what I need I always go to tacklewarehouse.com. Probably 75% of my tackle shopping is done online.

Fishing gear: Academy (walk-in) or Bass-pro(web) Fish food; amax 500 Products for your land; Lumberton Farm/Feed, Tractor supply, Home Depot
Would you prefer to shop at:
Local Farm Store? Big Box store? BassPro? Cabela's? Tractor Supply? Name your store-- Local Farm store (Lumberton Farm/Feed) surprisingly has good prices compared to Home Depot on building supplies (lumber, pvc, irrigation supplies, etc.), fertilizer and lime. NOTE: but not herbicides)
Lastly, what products do you buy in a store? Only things I need immediately (irrigation supplies), or not feasible to ship(building supplies, fertilizer, and lime)
Second, what do you buy online? Everything else including 2.5 gallon herbicides (pond and terrestial)
What percentage of your shopping is done online?80%
