I couldn't find a previous thread that invites the display of fishing-related antiques; so I thought I'd start one and see what pops up.
The thought was prompted by a cherished relic that rests on a shelf in my study: My grandfather's old 1-gal glass minnow trap ( Camp Minnow Trap / Checotah, Okla - pre 1960). Wished I still had the screw-on metal lid, but it succumbed to rust many decades ago.
Any other "fishing-antiques" out there (besides several site-members who shall remain nameless)?

Kelly, my grandfather on my Mothers side passed away in the mid '60's and I have his fishing tackle. I'll take pics tomorrow. Keeling's Tom Thumb Wiggler box (Surface Tom), approx 90 years old, an old spinner that has a patent date of 1874, another old kidney shaped spinner that has a blade made of Mother of Pearl, Paw-Paw Wotta Frog lure and box (he bought it thru the mail and the box has a $0.03 stamp on it), Tin Liz, etc., etc.

I have a small stash of hunting and fishing collectables, including some decoys that are from around the turn of the last century when market hunting was in it's heyday.

My dad passed away in 1993 at 89. He had a bait casting yellow Jitter Bug that he caught a 7 1/2 lb 25 1/2" LMB at Lake Webster, IN in the 1940's that held the record for the northern half of IN for awhile. 10 years ago I had some good bass in my one acre pond, so thinking I could never loose this bait plug with it's memories since it was a floater plug, I caught a bass that broke the line and I have never seen that lure again. The bass probably died long ago but I'm sure silt and debris covered over any signs of that plug.

Kelly, I have plugs and lures that I fished with in the late 40's and others that have been given to me. I have my old square shaft steel True Temper casting rod plus others and my old Pfleuger Supreme knuckle buster casting rog reel and others.
Have bamboo fly rod, fly reels and flies, early fiber glass spinning rod and reels, etc..
I'll try to take some pictures,
George

My wife bought a tackle box at an auction last year for $5.00, here are some of the things that were inside.

I skipped a few meals to spend my G.I. Bill money to buy some of this stuff - turned out to be addictive ... grin

There was a set of 3 different sized old glass minnow traps on craigslist awhile back.. They wanted $100 for them couldn't pull the trigger though.. Here's one on there now..

I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease..

Dang, $250 BUCKS!

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Thanks Kelly, PhotoBucker turned my pictures sideways but you got the idea - hung them on my barb-wire collection.
Did you notice my PBI&II Conference name tags?
Those are truly fishing related antiques... grin

Thanks Kelly, I have way more fishing stuff than whats pictured, including more antique stuff. What's pictured is from just one tackle box that my wife picked up at an auction last year.

George, love the barbed wire collection and the lures. I see you have a least one strand of Brinkerhoff barbed wire. cool

George, I don't have any of that multicolored line left on any of my old reels. When I was a kid, I used all of it for tying on weights for my duck decoys! Ha!

Old money fortune?
Now where did we we bury that stuff when the old homeplace was dozed?

I still have my original steel rod. That thing can make an 8 inch catfish feel like a bigun.
