I was wondering if anyone here has done any overhanging shoreline structures similar to what they use to restore trout streams with better habitat?

I've seen video on TV where they've taken logs and drilled a hole on either end through the log and hammered in rebar to the side of the bank so that the log pretty much created an overhang so that fish could hide under it. I was wondering if such a habitat would even be useful for pond fish and if something like this is practical/worth doing in addition to other habitat work out further from shore?

1.7 A pond, 0.5 A pond, 0.75 A pond and 0.25 A pond
Only pond I'm currently managing is 1.7 A pond which has CC, LMB, and BG

Another idea I had last night was taking cinder blocks and stacking them up against the bank maybe 2-3 widths of cinder blocks out to the deeper water all the way around the inner part of the pond and then placing a large flat rock on top to create an overhang, that way it will last forever (stone) and the cinder blocks will create small crevices for fish.
