We have been fishing my 1 acre pond very heavy and I have been documenting all catches. I have been culling anything under 14". I have been catching predominately 1-2 bass but dont seem stunted. We have caught some over 2 and a few over 3. So obivously i want bigger but this is a good average. I am pretty sure my pond is bass heavy. I have seen some blue gill but not many. I am going to start actively fishing for blue gill tomorrow to see size and get an idea how many I have. The thing that throws me is for a pond that has been unkept for decades the bass I have been catching are over 90% on weight ratio. Some 100% or better. I assume this means there is more forage fish than I initially thought or the big bass are feeding on the little bass. Any thoughts?

Sounds like your bass are just about to become stunned. Probably with a spawn this year. I would take out all you can.

Have they spawned yet? If you are catching females packed with eggs, that can make the results skewed a bit.

I think they may be spawning now. Which i thought was a little late for east texas but i caught one yesterday that was just under 3 lb that was bleeding. I assume thats what that means but i am a newbie
