You are my hero, Dwight.... No hero by any stretch of imagination! Just a person who tries to keep the devices functioning as optimally as possible given the prescribed design parameters.

2014 has been one of those rough periods. So, feeling a little overwhelmed with life's "stuff" I started up my winter workouts at the end of summer.
Ten days in I am feeling great and have dropped 10 pounds.
Why do we know that working out is all good but still find it so easy to quit and so hard to start again?
My long term strategy is to grow younger with age. Working out, letting the hair grow long, fishing more, working smarter rather than harder, ignoring politics, etc are all a part of that strategy.
Dave is still here.

Excellent goals Dwight, you inspire me and I'm sure others. Heck, I might even give up double cheeseburgers with bacon for breakfast.

Like most others, I make New Years Resolutions just about every month regarding exercise and diet. And, I can follow the not eating stupid stuff fairly well. But, an exercise regimen is my weak point. I'm usually good for a couple of days but then forget all about it.
I'm 71, 200 lbs and feel pretty good. Yeah, I'm on Lipitor. I need to weigh about 175 and could make it with an infusion of discipline.

Atkins (low carb) diet allows pretty much all the cheese and meat (included the beloved bacon) that you care to eat any time of the day. Heck, bread is just the holder, anyway!

That's always worked for me, Dwight (when I can stay on it), to lose weight and lowered my cholesterol from 292 to 223! The best part is I love all the foods that go with it!

Hang in there Dwight! Congrats on the first 10#!
On a side note, I saw Dr Dave's old posts and then felt a dang lump in the throat suddenly. Still miss him.

Dave is still here. Good for you! Yeah that politics thing is a bad one. The news can get you riled up too. But then I'm not sure it's the news we're getting anymore. Lots of editorializing. Good luck!

Dave is still here. You got it right Dwight! Exercise program was my key to survival during my stressful 24/7 years. I would run or walk every day, rain or shine and it got to be addictive. Continued to this very day, but at a snails pace at the local Rec Center. Nearing 90 years, I struggle to even walk a straight line and work hard to recover lost muscle mass after endless days hospitalized. In every life a little rain will fall - it's better to face adversity in good health - keep up the good work! George

Another 5 lb fell away this past week. Workouts continue vigorously.
Thanks for all the support and commentary!

Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.

No wine, no beer; Vodka. Vodka has 0 net carbs and mixes nicely with the Metamucil.

That don't look to bad, Big Chub!!
You really seem to have avoided the receding hairline. When one has a receding hairline, the longer hair looks a bit silly.
Nice work!!

I made these flat bread pizzas this morning and put them in the frig for our evening meal. Under 10 net carbs each. I use the Flatout flatbreads and Rao's Homemade Marinara sauce. Toppings: sausage pepperoni grilled chicken breast fresh green peppers fresh mushrooms mozzarella cheese Parmesan cheese
