My backyard pond was recently completed. Thanks to 2 rainy days, it is about half full. It was stocked with 300 CNBG, 100 RE, 50 BC, 15 HSB, and 10 lbs fatheads from Overton's Fisheries. Since there is no vegetation, should it be aerated, at least until waterlilys are planted next spring? It is between 9-10' at the deepest point, 175' x 75' with a 3-1 slope. I also need some ground cover to stop erosion and thinking of planting winter wheat and covering it with jute mesh for stability. Any thoughts on this.
Thank you for your time. JW
By the way, those folks are very helpful and VERY patient.

Sounds like a good start. The wheat will grow all winter and help with erosion.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Size is 175' x 75' which is somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 acre. Was feeding them Aquamax, but last week they decided to quit eating and have not seen any fish since then.
11/15/11 - Seems like the BC will not come out and play if air temperature is below 50. Have no idea about the water temperature, but imagine it is chilly!!

That has happened to me several times. Sooner or later they have always returned to the dining area.

Aeration can be your ponds best friend before or after planting vegetation.
