I walked in my pond yesterday and the bottom is covered in this very Dense short grass. Im sure all of the shallow areas are covered, Im going snorkeling this weekend to see the extent but I was wondering if the fish will find a way and place to bed? Or is it necessary for me to create the beds? will they bed deeper if thats better soil assuming theres O2? this is an old sand pit that has been dug all the way around the edge` to 15ft (drag line) and the middle goes from 0 to 5' the shallow areas have a lot of silt and the deeper areas should be pure sand..

They'll clear out areas for beds for sure. I've seen RES bedding in the center of thick bullrush stands.

Bluegill can breed without water. Don't ask me how..
I believe in catch and release. I catch then release to the grease.. BG. CSBG. LMB. HSB. RES.

Bass and sunfish create their own beds. Whereas catfish need cavities or the means by which to create a cavity.
