Hi all.
I am wanting to place a 2 or 3 acre pond on my property. The site where I want to put the pond fits just like I want it; except for one problem. I didnt think it was a problem untill I started reading many posts on here but...
My neighbor has a pond and his drainage/ runoff creek from his pond flows right across my property. Right where I've decided to place my pond. It is an excellent place to feed my pond with water from, but how devistating would it be to my ecosystem? Would it carry unwanted fish eggs or parasites? All the good ole' boys around the house say that its a good thing because not only will my pond be fed by rain watershed runoff, but also from my neighbor's pond. I really dont think there is a better spot to put my pond. His pond has been established for at least 20years but I'm unsure about its quality. Maybe I can go talk to him and get a good look at his pond.
Here is a picture of the layout of my property with his pond included.
Any help or ideas? thanks.

Here is another picture showing the property with more of the surrounding properties included. Also notice our 7 acre pond that me and my father in law share at the top of the map.

It depends on what is in the neighbor's pond what it would do to your pond. I can not tell the ground level from the pictures. Contact the local NRCS office and have them come take a look at your land and they can tell you where the best place is to put a pond.

Welcome to the forum. I saw from the other post that you are having a drought, but please remember that when the rains come, the fish that are in your neighbors pond WILL end up in your pond. Not all of them, but enough to maybe cause problems if you don't want those species in your pond.

I can't think of a good filter to put on the creek/stream that won't clog, but still keep fish out.
