That's a good sized beaver. Did only one show up, or did it bring the whole family?

It was just the one and only got 4-5 small trees before I spied it. Weighed about 50-55 pounds.
On a side note, beaver is very tasty.

yep. I forget what recipe I used, but to me it tasted like beef that was soaked in sugar water.

We sauteed one rear leg and one front leg in a skillet and added some bacon and oil as needed. It tasted like a really good steak. Very lean. Next I am going to smoke some and see how that turns out. I kept the tail too for a camping trip. They say that's a delicasy cooked over an open flame and then after removing the hide, just pulled apart.

Many times. Muskrat meatloaf is almost identical to beef meatloaf (at least the recipe that I used).

"Muskrat. It's what's for dinner."
Hmmm. Maybe if I tried to sound more like Sam Elliott???
Actually, I find muskrat to be one of the best wild meats out there.
Never had it in meatloaf, though...

Once I tried to eat the only beaver I have ever caught but it was disgusting. I tried even several recipes but none of them made anything tasty. I've heard that beaver can be really tasty if it's cooked properly and I wish I had such cooking skills...

Grundulis, if it starts out looking like a rat I'm not going to eat it.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color. Without a sense of urgency, Nothing ever gets done.
