Here in Michigan, mosquitos are wildlife! I have three acre, with two acres of woods. I am thinking of getting a mosquito trap machine. the experts say that it covers about an acre, which works for us because I would keep it near the pond so our beach is nice. Does anyone have advice about these machines? Also, since it is supposed to interrupt mosquito life cycle, does it hurt the pond and the food source for the little fish?

I would suggest that you read a scientific study on their effectiveness in keeping people from getting bit (rather than their ability to catch mosqitoes).

Actually, most of the research is on how many mosquitoes the traps catch. Most think the traps probably reduce bites, but are best used with other control practices like larval control, reduction of adult resting sites, and adulticides. Just want you to be aware that you can spend a lot of money, and may not see results. It also depends on the primary species of mosquito causing the problem. Appearently, some spewcies are attracted to the traps and some are not. Might be worth seeing if you can get help from entomologists at the land grant university. Maybe they will want to do some trap research on your place?

Yes it is better to take a suggestion from a entomologists instead of spending money on mosquito machines. You can also take a help from a government organizations where they are trying to control mosquitoes. You can visit them and ask for a suggestions you require.
