Dear Pond Boss Forum,
Hello! Let me start by saying I'm glad to be a part of this forum. I'm brand new to ponds and want to learn as much as possible. I'm looking to purchase about 80 to 100 acres of land north of Winnipeg in the next year. Specifically, we're looking to the interlake region of Manitoba.
Our family has a goal of becoming 100% self sustainable and a farm pond is a key part of that dream. We hope to be able to grow enough fish to provide about one sustainable fish mean every week from our own farm pond.
Our goal is to have about a 1-3 acre pond. I'd like the pond to provide a habitat for edible fish, in addition to providing drainage for the flat property.
Anyways, that's about it for me. I'm looking forward to reading about everyone's pond stories, advice and otherwise. I'll be sure to post photos of our property / pond as it progresses.

Welcome Phil!
I'm helping a friend with doing that exact same thing with his ponds.
How many pounds of cleaned fish do you expect to harvest from the pond per year? What type of fish do you like to eat? Those answers will help define whether your goals can be met.
