I am just about done with my waterfall and plan on installing the wire and pump this weekend (if it doesnt snow or rain). I was able to pick up a irrigation pump 3/4 hp from my localhardware guy for 100 bucks. I plan on running the pvc pipe about 8ft into the pond at about 4 ft depth and then running the water through an additional 30 ft of pvc pipe and then my lift will be approx. 10 ft. the intake and outtake is 1 1/2 inches on the pump. I had a guy over at the house yesterday and he said that was way too strong of a pump for that....any comments on that and if so-how can I limit the amount of water it will send to my spillway on the top of the waterfall? Thanks, Dave

Dave is your irrigation pump rated for continuous use? I've had great luck with these Jebao mag drive pumps, I have the 8000 and 12000 models, the 12000 model pumped water all winter from the stream up to the pond. It draws only 160 watts and supplied 12gpm running 120 ft. up a 12 ft. rise to the pond. They also have a new 16000 model which is rated at over 4000 gph. http://www.wholesalepumps.com/index.php?p=product&id=290&parent=11
