My best LMB

I have only stocked 2 species of fish in my 2 ponds. Coppernose bluegill and LMB. One pond is .8 acres and the other one is 12 acres. The 12 acre pond was stocked for the first time 3 years ago and my small pond was stocked 7 years ago. Here are my biggest fish in the two ponds so far...

I'm in Central Louisiana, outskirts of a town called Opelousas. That fish bit on my second flip within 5 feet of the dock, it was 24 inches long, not very fat but really big jaws on it. Not sure what it weighed, just took a picture and let it go... I figure it was somewhere around 7 or 8 lbs. After that fish I keep a good scale on me! I caught it in August, maybe it would be 10 pounds or more if it was full of eggs...

Looks kinda thin. What kind/size of forage do you have in the pond?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

i have coppernose bluegill and they're getting thinned out, that fish is probably old enough to be much fatter and heavier. It was definitely on the thin side a little. I have been working on getting the forage back up and taking out all the smaller bass.

WOW! Nice fish!

I learned at the conference, you have a very good chance of breaking the fishs' jaw if held that way and not supported by your other hand around the anal fin....

Your ok holding this way. I admit we have been the worst around having them in the air "sideways" without supporting belly. that was more important to hold the belly then esshup. Nice catch.
