hello forum, I have been feeding for about 2 mths now. By hand, purina GFC, 2 times/day. I have a pond full of Gambusia, and Mexican tetra. in fact this morning i thought it was raining because of all the minnows jumping around the surface, the MT like to jump. And this is a 2ac pond. i have never seen a single BG that i stocked..1000 2-3inch and 100 4-6 in late Dec. The minnows eat all the food. i threw out 8lbs of feed yesterday afternoon as an experiment and it was gone in 9min. ALL of it buy minnows. MOSTLY the Tetras, they have teeth. I have noticed the minnows are getting larger from the time i started feeding in jan. I put in 150 bass 2 weeks ago to try and get them under SOME control. So should i continue to feed them, or am i wasting my money? should i wait till the bass have thinned them out? or is it best to have the mindset that the food is getting to my BG indirectly? My goals are a trophy BG pond. HAs any one else had experience with minnows eating all the food?

Wow! That a lot of minnows! I wonder what would happen if you put your foot in the water??? Maybe the BG just don't like the food. Were they feed trained fish to begin with? If not you may have trouble getting them to eat pellets. The BG will eat all them small minnows though and the bass should have a feast!!! How big is this pond? I hope it's pretty big cause that's a lot of fish you put in there for a smaller pond. I am no expert lets see what someone else has to say. I would back off feeding for a bit until the bass eat some of them minnows. Then try again maybe?
The only difference between a rut and a Grave is the depth. So get up get out of that rut and get moving!! Time to work!!

I expect the BG are still there. Have you tried moving around or are you feeding at the same place every day?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
