Thought ya'll might find this interesting. We were electrofishing today and at the last lake I kept some fish to take to clean. I put them in a five gallon bucket no water drove 20 minutes to get ice to put on them, this is at 4:30pm. Drive to the fish farm. then drive 45 min. home, then drink some beer watching the Aggie game until halftime. The fish have been in the bucket of ice water for nearly five hours. I dump the bucket in the sink and there are several fish that start flopping around, when I start washing them off.
I think the two green sunfish are mad and I am afraid to go back to the kitchen and face their wrath. However, I will drink another beer and summon the courage to go on the attack with my knife. If I do not show up for work in the morning, hopefully Todd will read this and understand I went down fighting the good fight, but the green sunfish were too powerful.

I prevailed. I toasted the worthiness of my adversary, as they took their last swim in hot oil. To the GSF, may I again do battle with your brethren. I may never be the same mentally or physically.........thus I shall blend in nicely with the masses.
I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, keep me here.

While ice fishing on cold days the fish will freeze completely solid as a brick laying on the ice all day long. When I take them home and thaw them in the sink it is fairly common for them to start flopping around again. Someday I am going to freeze em up solid for a few hours and then see if they will actually live when thawed and placed back into water!

Fish frozen for at least three hours. Got them in the sink under some running water and they come to life. Kinda freaky the first time you see it.

A couple years ago I brought some crappies home from a pond. I didn’t have time to clean them since the wife and I had dinner reservations. So I tossed them -still alive- into the fridge to keep them from spoiling, and we went out to dinner. When I got home many hours later, I went to the fridge and they started flopping around when they saw me.
