Our last significant rainfall for the D/FW area, about 2.5 inches, was 10/1/10. Since that date, we are about 8 inches behind. You don't catch up on that much shortage. We've gotten a couple of 1/4 inch rains since then but that's all. Our rainfall thus far for March is .01 inch. We generally average about 2 3/4 inches for March. It doesn't look good for rain in the next 7 days, I hope the weather turns around for you guys, maybe a tropical storm.

Accuweather is calling for a brief warm up into next week and then it may stay unseasonably cold up until June in the Midwest. Obviously long range forecasts are tricky though. http://www.accuweather.com/blogs/news/story/47602/sick-of-the-cold-we-have-good.asp

Say it ain't so! Cold till June? The pond is still locked up with thick ice, last year I had already stocked by this time.
Hope you guys in TX get some rain soon, I feel your pain about low water tables. At least my pond is full at the moment.
I bet the oil companies are loving this weather. I'm now into my last bags of pellets for the stove, now I'm happy I bought and extra ton this season. Bring back globle warming.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Dave, even tho it seems like there is a lot of snow, it doesn't do much for the water table. 10"-12" of snow is only 1" of rain.

Dave, even tho it seems like there is a lot of snow, it doesn't do much for the water table. 10"-12" of snow is only 1" of rain. It depends on the temperature. I've seen a 20 to 1 ratio in really low temps. Keep in mind flow into the pond depends on the watershed and 1 inch over a large area can be several inches in the pond.

Yeah, I know that snow doesn't convert into rain very well. However, when you learn to appreciate a cloudy/misty day.......

That's a neat chart. Thanks!
Dave, I know what you mean. So. Cal. gets more moisture than you think from fog condensing on tree leaves and dropping to the ground.
